For professional engineers (16 CCR § 411(g)(1); a parallel provision, § 411(g)(2), covers land surveying documents): "All professional engineering plans, specifications, reports, or documents (hereinafter referred to as 'documents') shall be signed and sealed in accordance with the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act and any other laws related to the practice of professional engineering and shall be signed and sealed in a manner such that all work can be clearly attributed to the licensee(s) in responsible charge of the work."

California specifies a circular seal, 1.5 inches diameter under Cal. Code Regs. tit. 16, § 411, and accepts electronic seals for sealed submittals. California sets no continuing-education requirement for engineers.
