Renewal

Professional engineer and professional surveyor certificates of licensure expire biennially, and the board mails each licensee a renewal notice showing the expiration date and fee at least one month before expiration (it is the licensee's duty to keep their address current). The biennial renewal fee is $80 for a professional engineer, $60 for a professional surveyor, and $10 for an engineer intern or surveyor intern (certificate of authorization renewal is $100); a renewal filed 1-60 days late is charged 50% of the fee on top, and one filed 61 days to 2 years late is charged 100% on top. Reciprocity

An applicant for reciprocal (comity) licensure must hold, in good standing, a license in another U.S. jurisdiction that is substantially similar to the Arkansas license sought, must not have had a license revoked for bad faith or a violation of law, rule, or ethics, and must not currently hold a suspended or probationary license in any U.S. jurisdiction. A comity professional engineer applicant must also have passed the NCEES Professional Engineer exam and have at least four years of post-graduate engineering experience (Arkansas accepts experience already accepted by another state where the applicant is licensed), and a comity professional surveyor applicant must have passed the NCEES Principles and Practice of Surveying exam and the Arkansas state-specific surveying exam.
