South Carolina licensing rules
- Renewal
- Individual Professional Engineer and Professional Surveyor licenses (all surveyor categories) renew every two years for $70.00, and dual PE/LS licenses renew for $135.00, effective July 1, 2024. Firm Certificates of Authorization renew biennially for $75.00. Source
- License number format
- The seal shows the licensee's registration number as a numeral, illustrated by the board as a 5-digit placeholder (00000). For a TIER B Professional Land Surveyor, the registration number includes a Tier B suffix, illustrated as (00000—TIER B). Source
- Reciprocity
- An engineer licensed in another jurisdiction may apply for South Carolina licensure by comity for a non-refundable $60.00 application fee. The applicant must submit verification of licensure and examination from at least one other state (or an NCEES Council Record), five personal references of which at least three must be registered engineers, and a documented work-experience record.
