Two different products, often confused

PEStamps and the other stamp manufacturers make a physical object: a self-inking, pre-inked, or embossing device that presses your seal onto paper. They are good at it, they ship quickly, and for a paper original that device is exactly what you need.

EngineeringID makes the other half. We render your seal as artwork you can download for free, and — on a paid plan — we bind that seal to a specific PDF with a cryptographic signature and a verification code. If someone edits a page after you seal it, the signature breaks and verification fails. A photograph of a rubber stamp cannot do that.

Questions engineers actually ask

Do I still need a physical stamp?
Sometimes. Many jurisdictions and clients still accept — and a few still require — a wet ink impression on paper originals, and some permit counters will not take a digital submission. If you file paper, keep a rubber or embossing stamp. If you file PDFs, a digital seal is faster and carries tamper evidence a rubber stamp cannot. Is a digital PE seal legal?
Yes. All 50 states and the District of Columbia permit digital or electronic seals on engineering documents, subject to each board's rules about signature method, retention, and file format. Start with the electronic stamp overview and confirm the specifics with your own board.
Is EngineeringID a replacement for a rubber-stamp vendor?
For digital documents, yes. Vendors that manufacture rubber, self-inking, and embossing stamps do something we do not: produce a physical device. We produce the seal artwork and the cryptographic signature that binds it to a specific PDF.
